The Greenbelt Act

Agriculture is Important

Growing up on a Dairy Farm on the edge of Uxbridge and married a farmer 49 years ago so farming is very important to me. Last 4 years ago for the Sesquicentennial, Durham’s agricultural roots where highlighted and Beach family were recognized for farming in Canada for over 150 years. My side of the family missed out as they have only been farming for 146 years.

I love to share my passion for farming. For for 9 years I have organized the Farmers of Uxbridge which it is in its 10th year. It took a lot of work and time to put this event together but that’s part of farming. Was held at the Arena Hall end of August. Residents came out to learn about 25-30 local farms and what they produce, where products are marketed and how crops are used. This event was fun for the whole family.

Tourism and Business Development

Attracting Tourists to Uxbridge

Our community has so much to offer and I’m proud our tourism initiatives and outreach is delivering results. New events and signage guide travellers to our trails, events, and shops, heritage train, theater productions, farm markets, and so much more.

Growing Tourism makes Uxbridge a vibrant place to work, live and play.  Tourism includes supporting businesses like The New HUB, Slab Town, Banjo Cidery, 2 Ski resorts, Golf, events like Spring Tide and many Theater production at the Music Hall. Lucy Maud, the Foster. We have so much.

Museum has really expanded in what they offer. New programs, leveraging their assets to drive revenues for future investments. Like Micro Weddings fright Night and more.

Traffic Safety

The car, speeds have increased in hamlets and roads whether in Hamlets or on Concession roads. Regional roads and streets in Uxbridge. Safety is now more of an issue than ever before. We all need to share the road and respect others, no matter if you are a resident walking, a cyclist, operate a gravel truck, or are driving farm equipment. We all need to be more cautious while traveling on our roads. We all need to respect and obey the rules of the road. Municipal Council has a role to play to encourage traffic calming but we all have a role to play to keep the roads safe for all users.

Speed sign are to be obeyed. For your safety and other’s.

Please use your Cruise Control if you have a hard time maintain posted speeds.

Pam speaks about taxes

Taxes are one of the hot topics.  Taxes are so high many residents tell me they may have to leave the TWP.  This breaks my heart because some are short or long time residents that love Uxbridge. With much thought I would like to put forth an idea to help with taxes....
